The problem of vandalism has been existent in the human civilization since it began. This specially comes up when people protest or group fights break out in the streets. However, never has the sculpture of Bangabandhu been attacked by vandals before. This is a critical blow to the history and heritage of the Bangalee nation.
According to a report published in this daily, a nationwide protest erupted on Saturday by the people from all walks of life, including judges, government officials and employees, against vandalism of the sculpture of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
This is unbecoming of a
nation that has such rich
heritage and culture
This is truly disconcerting as it was an attack upon the very sentiment that we hold dear to our hearts as Bangladeshi people. The Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, under whose leadership we gained the freedom to love with our heads held high, was defamed when his sculpture was defaced.
This is unbecoming of a nation that has such rich heritage and culture. And we hope that those who are responsible for such atrocious deeds will be brought to justice in front of the whole nation. Let us unite for the better future and give due credit and honour to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman who led the country to where it is now.
The report also elaborates on how it is widely known that vested quarters in collaboration with extremists, fundamentalists and anti-liberation forces are trying to destabilise the country. They are trying to tarnish the image of the nation, destroy its proud history, culture and heritage. This should not be tolerated by anyone under any circumstances.
This being the question of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s honour, we believe that the country should unite behind the cause and give the right respect to his sculpture.
