Leaders of 'Sommilito Ulama Somaj', an organisation of alems and ulamas, has demanded that the government should bring the conspirators of the country to justice who wanted to destroy its economy by appointing lobbyists in abroad.
They made the demand at a human chain titled "BNP-Jamaat appoints anti-national law firm, anti-national activities and trial of conspirators (BNP-Jamaat Kortrik Desh-birodhi Lobbyist Firm Niyog,Desh-birodhi Kormo-kando O Shorojontrokarider Bichar)" in front of the National Press Club in the capital on Saturday morning.
With 'Sommilito Ulama Somaj' convener Hafez Maulana Sulaiman in the chair, the event was attended, among others, by Dr Maulana Abdul Momin Siraji, Shykh Mufti Alamgir Hossain, Maulana Rabiul Islam Siddiqui, Mufti Md Saifur Rahman, Maulana Abdus Salam Charanpuri, Hafez Maulana Abdul Jalil, Maulana Lokman Saifi, Hafez Hafizur Rahman, Maulana Omar Farooq, Hafez Maulana Sheikh Mukhtar Uddin and Maulana Delwar Hossain.
Dr Maulana Abdul Momin Siraji said BNP-Jamaat is involved in hatching conspiracy to destabilize the peaceful country by smuggling the country's money abroad and appointing lobbyists.
They (BNP-Jamaat) hired lobbyists to stop the trials of the war criminals and Father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's assassination, stop foreign aid for the construction of the Padma Bridge, Saudi funding for the construction of the Model Mosques and bring down the ready-made garment industries, he added.
He said any government in any country can appoint a lobbyist for the development of the country but no one in any country can appoint a lobbyist against the interests of the country.
Those who hire lobbyists against the interests of the country are traitors, he continued.
