A Dhaka court on Thursday framed charge against Prothom Alo Editor Matiur Rahman and eight others in a case filed over the death of Dhaka Residential Model College student Nayeemul Abrar Rahat, reports BSS.
Judge of Dhaka Sessions Court KM Imrul Qayesh passed the order framing the charges against the accused and set December 14 for taking evidence in the case.
The court, however, acquitted Prothom Alo Assistant Editor and Kishor Alo Editor Anisul Haque from the charges.
The accused in the case are Kabir Bakul, Shubhashish Pramanik Shuvo, Mohitul Alam Pavel, Shah Paran Tusher, Jasim Uddin Apu, Mosharraf Hossain, Sujan and Kamrul Haider.
Ninth-grader Rahat, a student of Dhaka Residential Model College, died of electrocution during an anniversary programme of Kishor Alo, a supplement of the Prothom Alo for young readers, on the school premises on 1 November last
year.
On November 6, 2019, Abrar’s father Mojibur Rahman filed the case with the court in this connection.
