Professional leaders and social watchdogs at a meeting in Rajshahi mentioned concerted effort of all government and non-government entities concerned has become crucial to protect consumers rights for ensuring sound public health, reports BSS.

They also observed that the issue of the consumers rights is well accepted throughout the world and in the free market economy. So, there is an urgent need of bringing all the businessmen and others concerned under the awareness programme in this regard.

The observation came in a round-table discussion styled “Consumers Rights to Protect Harmony” jointly organized by Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB) and the Hunger Project Bangladesh at Master Chef Restaurant in the city on Wednesday afternoon.

He mentioned that the consumers rights in the developed nations focus on the right to information, choice, redress and representation, but we are deprived of such privileges.

Chaired by CAB local unit President Gazi Giash, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Editor of Daily Sonali Sangbad Liakat Ali, Editor of Daily Sonar Desh Akbarul Hassan Millat, Regional Coordinator of the hunger project Mijanur Rahman and its area coordinator Subrata Kumar Paul.
