Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Md Mesbahul Islam said that if modern agricultural information can be disseminated among the farmers through technology, there will be many benefits in agriculture. Proper use of information technology will make the wheel of agricultural economy more dynamic and turn it into smart agriculture.
The secretary made the comment while, speaking as the chief guest at a seminar on ‘What to do to spread information technology in coronal agriculture’ at the conference room of the Agricultural Information Service at Khamarbari in the capital on Wednesday.
“We have huge success in agriculture. This success of agriculture is now universally recognized. Today we have been able to promote this success in agriculture as a result of calling for the Green Revolution of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Despite the many challenges in agriculture, we are moving forward. Our food production has quadrupled,” he added.
The present government has continued various incentive activities to continue the progress of agricultural development during the Coronation period. The capacity of the government is changing, the middle income country has achieved. Activities to reach the developed state in 2041 are also being implemented.
Regarding further strengthening of Agricultural Information Service, the Senior Secretary said that the Ministry of Agriculture is richer and stronger than other agencies. It will be more advanced and modern. The agricultural information service will be further modernized by implementing revisits on agricultural TV, community radio installation projects and capacity building in the expansion of modern information and technology in agriculture, so that the information service can reach the doorstep of the farmer in the fastest time. He called for enhancing the capacity of all agencies of the Ministry of Agriculture to address the challenges of agriculture and make agriculture smart. Director of Agriculture Information Service Kartik Chandra Chakraborty presided over the seminar and Director General of Agriculture Extension Department Md. Asadullah and Additional Secretary (Extension) of the Ministry of Agriculture Md. Hasanuzzaman Kallol were present as special guests.
