Director General of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP) Major General Abdul Motaleb Sazzad Mahmud has said that children with special needs are one of the country’s future strengths.

“Only collective support from society can help unlock their innate potential,” he added.

The Ansar DG made the remarks while inaugurating the solo art exhibition of Afif Alvi, an art instructor at Proyash School in Dhaka Cantonment, where he attended as chief guest.

Speaking at the opening ceremony at Palette Gallery on Uttara’s Jashim Uddin Avenue on Friday, the chief guest emphasised that proper care, quality education, and appropriate training could transform children with special needs into skilled human resources who would make significant contributions to national progress.

He also highlighted the role of the Ansar force’s long-awaited Sanjeevon Project, describing it as a structured national platform that is already helping nurture talent from rural and marginal communities.

The initiative, he said, is playing an important role in enhancing the capabilities of children with special needs and ensuring equal opportunities for them to thrive.

“Sanjeevon is creating pathways for children with special needs to develop their abilities and advance in society,” he noted.

The exhibition features a diverse collection of Afif Alvi’s artworks, blending human emotion, the subtle beauty of nature, and the varied expressions of contemporary life. His bold colour choices, strong brushstrokes, and emotionally rich compositions resonated deeply with attendees.

The event drew enthusiastic participation from art lovers and distinguished guests. Special guests included Masrur Arefin, Managing Director and CEO of The City Bank; Colonel Md Altaf Ali, Executive Director and Principal of Proyash School; and Md Golam Rabbani, President of BEXA. Their presence added significance to the occasion.

The exhibition not only recognises Afif Alvi’s artistic journey but also stands as a testament to the creative promise and potential of young artists with special needs.
