Family members of the child who was raped and murdered have demanded a proper investigation, arrest and exemplary punishment of the actual culprits at a press conference held at City Press Club in Rajshahi on Thursday. Hossain Ali, father of the victim, school child Hasina Khatun and complainant of the case read out the written statement at the press conference.
10-year aged school child Hasina Khatun of Baruipara village and student of class V of Baruipara Primary School under Karnahar police station under Paba upazila was raped and slaughtered on the night of December 15 in 2018 in her grand father's house nearby. Hossain Ali further complained, SI Mohidul Islam, IO of the case on March 13, 2019, instead of arresting the actual culprits, arrested his father-in-law Akbar Ali which astonished them.
His father in law served a four-month and 12-day of imprisonment. Later on in last July Police also arrested Nazmul Haque Bacchu, the maternal uncle of Hasina as well He said, police allegedly tortured Bacchu to make a confessional statement.
He said they were later on granted bail from the higher court. In this connection, Hossain said, his brother in law was not present in the area during the occurrence and his father in law and mother in law were hearing songs of Mother which is known to every villager. Police have also been informed of their presence once and again but due to reason unknown, police arrested his father in law and the brother in law in connection with the rape and murder of his daughter. He further said, he disclosed names of two suspected miscreants but those two persons being influentials in the area, police did not pay hid to his complaints, he added.
He further said, he had declared his father in law and his brother in law as non-accused in the case through affidavits in the court. Still, police were harassing them on various pleas. He demanded a proper investigation of the case.
Meanwhile, while commenting on the allegations of the complainant of the case, SI Mohidul Islam said, the DNA matched with the accused and watching the suspicious movement of the father in law of Hossain, he was arrested and his brother in law was also arrested for searching of the further clue of the case. The press conference was attended, among others, by Nazma Begum, wife of Hossain, relatives Rebeka Sultana, Amela bewa, Shila Begum, Akbar Ali, father in law of the complainant and Nazmul Haque Bacchu, brother in law of the complainant.
