Planning minister MA Mannan on Tuesday said that projects of all the ministries would be monitored through Close Circuit Camera (CCTVs).
“We have already monitored projects of water resources ministry through CCTVs. Now we will increase our monitoring in other ministry projects using the technology,” he said after a meeting with the secretaries of various ministries and divisions to review the progress of develop projects held at the NEC Conference Room in the city’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area.
The planning minister said that at the moment many projects are being implemented across the country. We will install CCTVs at these projects and talk with the project directors. We will use the latest technology to ensure proper development, he added.
Mannan further said 94.36 per cent ADP has been implemented in the just concluded fiscal year2018-19. We will try our level best to implement hundred per cent ADP in the upcoming fiscal, the minister said.
“94.11 per cent ADP were implemented in 2017-18,” he added.
“We are working as a team for implementing the projects. We will sit with project directors regularly. Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED) of the planning ministry will increase monitoring of the projects. Our main goal is, speed up all the projects,” Mannan said.
About the trend of amending projects, the planning minister said projects could be amended once or maximum wo times, but amending project for the third time is not a healthy practice and even Prime Minister is not in favor of this.
He also said summaries would be placed before the ECNEC on those projects which would be brought for amendment for the third time for cognizance of the Prime Minister.
He said the meeting also discussed about not acquiring access land or acquiring land for any project illogically side by side considering time and again before acquiring arable land.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had given directions in various ECNEC meetings to compile the reasons behind the delay of the projects as a book and send it to her.
Meetings will be held time to time to review whether those directives are implemented properly, he added.
