District administration at a preparatory meeting here on Thursday chalked out an elaborate programme to celebrate the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the district on March 17 next.
Deputy Commissioner Hamidul Haque presided over the meeting at his conference room to finalize the programmes. Heads of different government departments, leaders of Awami League (AL) and its associate bodies, activists of different socio cultural and professional organizations and civil society members were present.
They suggested for adopting various colorful programmes marking the birth Centenary of Bangabandhu. Among others, Valliant Freedom Fighter Dr Abdul Mannan, Deputy Director (Local Government) Parvej Raihan, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Ashraful Haque, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Ruhul Quddus, Additional Superintendent of Police Ifte Khayer Alam,
District Education Officer Nasir Uddin, District Primary Education Officer Abdus Salam, Deputy Director of the Department of Social Services Hasina Momtaj and Deputy Director of Department of Women Affairs Shirin Shobnom spoke.
In the morning, a mammoth colourful rally with participation of government officials, political leaders and activists, students, teachers, rovers and scouts, socio cultural and professional activists and common people is expected to be brought out on the city streets from the collectorate building premises.
Different other programmes including discussion meeting on life and works of Bangabandhu, child gathering and cultural function will be arranged on collectorate ground. The district administration will screen the inauguration programme of the birth centenary celebration by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on bigger screen at the same ground from the capital city.
In the afternoon, the district administration in association with different socio cultural organisations will organise cultural function marking the birth centenary of Bangabandhu. Improved diets will be served to inmates of different orphanages, Shishu Paribars and children centers.
The Deputy Commissioner sought cooperation of the common people to make celebration of the birth centenary of Bangabandhu a total success in the district headquarter and the divisional one as well.
