Programme on maritime crime and security held

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University (BSMRMU) arranged a special session on Maritime Crime and Security at a seminar held at Daffodil International University in Dhaka on Sunday. The session was arranged in the Inauguration day of “The 4th International Conference on Globalization, Entrepreneurship and Emerging Economies (ICGEEE)” jointly organized by Center for Innovative Leadership Navigation (CILN) and BSMRMU.

In the session, Vice-Chancellor of the University, Rear Admiral M Khaled Iqbal and Professor Chris Bellamy from University of Greenwich, UK and Advisor of Global Maritime Security and Defense presented the keynote paper. In his presentation, Vice-Chancellor addressed Ocean Governance as a fundamental for sustainable maritime development in the Bay of Bengal.

In the session, Managing Director, Marine Care Consultant Bangladesh Ltd Zillur Rahman Bhuiyan, Abdul Alim, Professor of Department of Law, Rajshahi University, Professor Dr. Aftab Alam Khan of BSMRMU, Wahid Hasan Kutubuddin, Director of Institute of Bay of Bengal and Bangladesh Studies, BSMRMU and M Anwarul Islam presented their papers as well. Speakers at the seminar discussed about various maritime crimes and security aspects of Bay of Bengal. Senior officers of BSMRMU along with teachers and students attended the seminar as well.
