Prof Meerjady Sabrina Flora has been appointed as the Additional Director General (planning and development) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Prof Flora is the director of the Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control and Research (IEDCR), the government’s disease monitoring arm, since 2016.
The health service division on Thursday issued a gazette notification about her new appointment saying that it will be effective from August 20 when the current additional director general will retire.
Prof Flora is a known face in Bangladesh as she oversaw the pandemic from the beginning as the director of the IEDCR. She used to brief journalists and update the nation even before the outbreak of the disease in Bangladesh. She passed MBBS from Dhaka Medical College. She had her Ph.D from Cambridge University.
