The two-day 21st biennial conference of the Bangladesh Economic Association concluded with the hope of building a decent economic system for the betterment of the society.
This conference of about five thousand economists from all over the country came to an end with the election of the general meeting and executive committee of the Bangladesh Economic Association at the Engineers Institution auditorium in Ramna on Saturday.
In the election of the executive committee, Prof. Dr. Abul Barkat and Prof. Dr. Ainul Islam's 'Economy for a Better Society' panel has won 28 out of 29 posts including president-general secretary. The new committee will serve for the next two years.
In the election of the Executive Committee, Prof Dr Abul Barkat was elected as the President, Prof Dr Ainul Islam as the General Secretary and AZM Saleh as the Treasurer.
The other five elected vice-presidents are Prof Hannana Begum, Dr Md Alamgir Hossain Bhuiyan, Prof Dr Md Moazzem Hossain Khan, Md Mostafizur Rahman Sardar and DrMdSaidur Rahman respectively.
The joint-editors are Badrul Munir and Sheikh Ali Ahmed Tutul respectively. The five co-editors are Perth Sarathi Ghosh, Mansur Chowdhury, Md Jahangir Alam, Syed Esrarul Haqueand Md Habibul Islam.
The 14 members are Dr Md Liaquat Hossain, Dr Jamaluddin Ahmed, Prof Dr Zahirul Islam Sikder, Dr Md Sadekunnabi Chowdhury, Prof Shahanara Begum, Dr Md Morshed Hossain, Prof Dr Md Shamimul Islam, Md Akhtaruzzaman Khan, Md Mozammel Haque, Shahed Ahmed, Meher Khorshedul Alam Qaderi, Nesar Ahmed and Mohammad Akbar Kabir.
