The biopic about the late Dhallywood star Salman Shah, directed by Chotku Ahmed, has been canceled after objections from his mother, Neela Chowdhury. Neela, who lives in London, called Chotku to ask him to stop production on the film, which was tentatively named "Swapner Rajkumar."
Chotku shared that he had just completed the script and was in the process of casting actors from various districts when Neela reached out. He explained, "Neela had issued a legal notice earlier, asking everyone to avoid making films, dramas, or other projects about Salman. After her recent request, I decided to pause the project."
Neela Chowdhury clarified her reasons, saying, "It has been 28 years since my son passed away, and I don't think making films, dramas, or songs about him is right. Our family has always opposed these projects, and we have even sent legal notices. These things should not happen."
Salman Shah, born on September 19, 1971, in Sylhet, became a legend in Bangladeshi cinema during the early 1990s. He passed away on September 6, 1996, leaving behind a legacy of only 27 films. Chotku had planned to explore both his career and personal life in the biopic, inspired by the late filmmaker Sohanur Rahman Sohan, who launched Salman’s career.
Chotku aimed to cast young actors who idolize Salman and understand his legacy. The film was meant to honor Salman's impact on the industry, but now, due to family objections, it remains on hold. Salman's death continues to be a mystery, leaving many fans searching for answers about the beloved actor.
