‘Production of fish, meat and eggs reaches export stage’

Fish, meat and egg production has reached the stage of export, said Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim

The Minister made the remarks while addressing the ACI Deepto Krishi Awards 2021 at Dipta Television studio in Tejgaon on Friday afternoon.

Agriculture Minister Abdur Razzaque was present as the chief guest at the programme.  The Minister further said, “Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman said that in order to save Bangladesh, farmers must be saved. And the lifeblood of farmers is agriculture. Fisheries and livestock is a big sector of agriculture. We have not just achieved self-sufficiency in egg production, we have now reached the stage of export.” He said that agriculture, fisheries and livestock are playing a vital role in meeting the demand for nutrition and non-vegetarian food, eliminating unemployment, creating entrepreneurs and reviving the rural economy.  The best field crop farmers, cattle farms, orchards, cooperative farms, vegetable farmers, poultry farms, fish farmers, agricultural inventors, agri-entrepreneur woman and the best agri-entrepreneur man were awarded in a total of 10 categories at the event. 

Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Ito Naoki, Turkish Ambassador to Bangladesh Mustafa Osman Turan, Member of Parliament Momtaz Begum, Managing Director of Deepto TV Kazi Jahedul Hasan and Managing Director of ACI Agribusiness Dr FH Ansari was present on the occasion.
