The relationship between the owners of cinema halls the ‘Bangladesh Film Exhibition Association’ was almost severed with the various organizations of the Dhaka film industry.
This time the film producer and distributors’ association has taken initiative to improve the relationship with this important organization of the film.
Last Saturday, the newly elected committee of the exhibitors' association came to make a courtesy call at the office of the producers’ association at the BFDC. During the meeting, the leaders of the two sides discussed ways to overcome the existing conflict and pledged to work together.
Producers’ Association President Khorshed Alam Khasru, General Secretary Shamsul Alam and Exhibition Association President Kazi Shoaib Rashid and Vice President Mia Alauddin were also present.
"It's an informal meeting, but a lot of things have been discussed between us," said Khorshed Alam Khasru, president of the producers association. “We first supported the demands of the owners of the halls in raising the issues to the government about the crisis of closure. We have also said that the producers will be on the side of the demand for grants and small interest financing from the government for the renovation of the halls. In addition, the projector machines in cinema halls are currently covered by two private companies. Because of this, the producers have to pay a huge sum to them. The meeting also demanded that the owners of the hall themselves arrange the projector”, he added.
“Meanwhile, another meeting of the producers' association was held on Saturday”, Khasru said. Last year, a total of five organizations had a policy for making films. That has been in effect since November 1. Senior producers and directors and performers were formally informed about the issue. Alamgir, Kabori, Gazi Mazharul Anwar and Shakib Khan attended the meeting. They all support this policy.
