Problems in education cadre to go soon

The government is going to resolve all problems, including transfers, promotions and others, in the education cadre soon, said Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni.

“The government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is very education-friendly. We have made remarkable progress in the country’s education sector over the last 10 years. The contribution of the education cadre in this case is undeniable,” she said.

“The government will try to solve all the problems of the education cadre soon. We have taken initiatives to address various issues of Non-government Teachers Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA) and technical and madrasah education departments,” the minister said while speaking as the chief guest at a virtual meeting marking the 15th anniversary of 24th BCS Education Cadre Forum on Thursday evening.

In this regard, she urged all concerned to discharge their duties properly.
Deputy Minister for Education, Barrister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel also joined the meeting online.
The 24th BCS Education Cadre Forum President, Mostafizur Rahman Likhon moderated the virtual meeting.

Director General of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education, Prof Dr Syed Golam Faruk, Director (College and Administration) at Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education, Prof Shahidul Khabir, Narsingdi District SP Praloy Kumar Joardar and members of the 24th BCS Education Cadre, among others were also present.

Earlier, On June 26, the leaders of BCS education cadre association discussed various problems including transfers and promotions in the education cadre with the education minister at her residence.

They said that during the three-hour meeting with the minister, she listened to various issues including promotion, transfer policy, temporary dismissal order of two officers, creation of posts, and purchase of cheap mobile data.

At the time, Dipu Moni assured them that the transfer policy would be changed, and officials in remote areas would be automatically transferred after two years.

President of the BCS General Education Cadre Association IK Selim Ullah Khandaker told Bangladesh Post, “The minister assured us that she would take care of the promotion of all the officers who could be promoted. We have applied for the promotion of some 2,500 officers up to 22 BCS as professors, some 3,200 as associate professors up to 27 BCS, and 2,200 officers as assistant professors up to 33 BCS.”

The Minister also assured us that the promotion of 14th and 15th BCS would be given special consideration in promotion at other levels, he added.

Syed Zafar Ali, member secretary of Freedom BCS General Education (Sadhinota BCS Sadharon Sikkha Sangshad) said that the minister has considered the issue of paying mobile bills to officials at all levels.
He also hoped for the creation and implementation of posts in the education cadre by two months and six months respectively.
