Problem over LC opening to go within next month

Planning Minister MA Mannan said on Thursday said that the problem of opening letters of credit (LC) for commercial import will be resolved within the next one month.

He made the statement while attending the opening ceremony of the three-day Bangladesh Buildcon, Wood and Electrical International Exhibition at International Convention City Bashundhara in the capital on Thursday.

The Planning Minister said, “Traders are having trouble opening LC, urging to wait for a month more. Now the crisis has become somewhat normal. The problem will be solved by December, If Allah wishes.” I spoke with Bangladesh Bank

He also said, “This government is completely business friendly. Roughly 80 percent of the economy is in the hands of the businessmen. That's why all doors are open for you. The Prime Minister is very sincere to you.”

He said, “We have also allowed businessmen to work uninterrupted for so long,” adding “Now someone is trying to destroy the peace creating anarchy in the name of politics. Everyone must stop that evil attempt.”

“However, fire safety is very important for industrialization. The country is developing. At the same time, industries are growing in the country. Hence modernization of fire-fighting system is necessary for industrial safety,” he said. The Planning Minister said that new fire service depots have been established in 32 upazilas of the country, which is a major achievement of the country. 

“We have achievements in everything, this achievement should be increased. These machines are very necessary for business and industry. The government is always ready to help in all kinds of needs,” he added.

Meanwhile, the three-day exhibition was organized by Ask Trade Exhibitions Pvt Ltd and Future Trade Fair and Events Pvt Ltd. The event will end on November 26.

The exhibition started with the world's latest construction infrastructure and new innovations, technologies and products related to wood and furniture industries. 

It contains more than 2000 products from 200 domestic and foreign companies.

Various materials, equipment, machinery and technology related to constructing industry are being highlighted. 

Apart from this, another exhibition on wood and furniture industry is displaying machinery, hardware and tools: fittings and fixtures, laminates, boards, coatings, abraded and adhesives and other products.

The exhibition is open to the public from 11 am to 8 pm every day.
