The 26th Meril Prothom Alo Awards dazzled on Friday evening at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre, celebrating the finest in Bangladeshi film, television, and web series. The event brought together top artists to honour outstanding creative achievements of the year.
The ceremony opened with a star-studded red carpet featuring Afzal Hossain, Dilara Zaman, Bidya Sinha Mim, Tasnia Farin, and Mehazabien Chowdhury. Afran Nisho and Tasnia Farin hosted the event with grace and wit.
Veteran actor Abul Hayat was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award, presented by Dilara Zaman. A special documentary paid tribute to his long and impactful career, and Hayat dedicated the award to his family and colleagues.
“Rongila Kitab” won Best Web Series (Critics’ Choice), while Salzar Rahman earned Best Screenwriter for “Kalpurush.” Nuhash Humayun took Best Director for “Dui Shaw.” Mosharraf Karim and Zinnat Ara won Best Actor and Actress in the web series category.
In limited-length fiction, Jahid Preetom was awarded Best Director for “Buk Pocket-er Golpo,” and Subrata Sanjib won Best Screenplay for “Rod Brishtir Golpo.” Tasnia Farin and Khairul Basar received Best Actress and Actor awards.
“Priyo Maloti” was the evening’s big winner, securing Best Feature Film, Best Director for Shangkha Dasgupta, and Best Actress for Mehazabien Chowdhury. Mamnun Hasan Emon won Best Actor for “Maya.”
A special documentary celebrated 25 years of Shakib Khan’s career, with a special honour awarded to him for his contributions to Bangladeshi cinema.
For television, Tawsif Mahbub and Tanjim Saiyara Totini won Best Actor and Actress for “Love Sub.” In music, Pritom Hasan and Dilshad Nahar Kona won Best Male and Female Playback Singer awards for songs from “Toofan.” Farrukh Ahmed Rehan was named Best Newcomer for “Jugal.”
