An inmate of Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Thursday morning.
The deceased was identified as Md Palash Ahmed, 26, son of Shahid Uddin of Morohorpur village under Bhaluka Police Station in Mymensingh district.
Jail authorities said Palash suddenly fell sick inside the prison around 10:10am.
He was rushed to the emergency department of DMCH for treatment where doctors declared him dead at around 11:35am, said Jail Guard Mahbubur who took him to the DMCH from the jail.
The body was kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy, he added.
