A 54-year-old prisoner died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) early Monday.
The decased was indentified as Shuayebur Rahman, resident of Kansat Milik area under Shibganj Police Station in Chapainawabganj district.
Prison guard Md. Maruf Hasan said Shuayebur was brought to the hospital’s emergency department on Sunday night suddenly falling ill and passed away around 2:15 am while receiving treatment.
But he could not confirm the case for which Shuayebur was imprisoned.
Inspector Md. Faruk, in-charge of DMCH’s police camp, said the body has been kept at the hospital’s emergency department morgue for austopsy.
After finishing the formal procedure, the body will be handed over to the family, he added.
