Prisoner accused in daughter murder case dies

A man jailed for killing his one-and-a-half-year-old daughter, to trap his opponent in Lakshmipur, died of chest pain on Monday. 

The deceased was identified as Fayez Ahmed Manu. The accused Fayez is the son of late Khorshed Alam of East Rajapur village in Chandraganj union of Sadar upazila.

He was taken to Sadar Hospital from the district jail on Monday night due to sudden chest pain. He died while undergoing treatment there.

Sakhawat Hossain of Lakshmipur District Jail confirmed the matter and said that Fayez, accused in the murder case of his daughter, was taken to hospital after he developed chest pain.

He died at the hospital while undergoing treatment. His body will be handed over to his family after autopsy and legal process.

Sources said that on May 5 this year, Fayez suffocated his daughter Rahima to death and hid her in a bush in a secluded area. On the same night, he himself lodged a GD with the police stating that his daughter was missing. 

At midnight on May 8, the girl’s body was recovered from the bushes and dumped in the septic tank of her home toilet.

 On the morning of May 9, he himself informed the police that his daughter's body was found in a septic tank. Police later went to the spot and recovered the dead body.

Police arrested Fayez on the morning of May 11. Later, his wife Rasheda Begum filed a case against her husband at Chandraganj Police Station. On the same day at Lakshmipur Senior Judicial Magistrate's Court, Fayez confessed of killing his daughter.
