Land Minister Narayon Chandra Chanda has directed the Zonal Settlement Officers (ZSOs) to work with utmost importance to implement the Bangladesh Digital Survey Programme.
The Land Minister made this statement while addressing the 58th bi-monthly meeting of Zonal Settlement Officers and Settlement Officers as the chief guest at the conference room of the Land Record and Survey Department (DLRS) at Bhumi Bhaban in the capital's Tejgaon.
Land Secretary Md. Khalilur Rahman, Director General of the Land Record and Survey Department Anis Mahmud, and officials of the Ministry of Land were also present at the time.
The land minister stated, "At the field level, you (ZSOs) are the supervisors of the survey and settlement part of the land administration. I believe that you will play an impeccable role in implementing the Bangladesh Digital Survey Programme, which is a part of the Prime Minister's Smart Bangladesh plan.
If the land survey is conducted properly, the sufferings of the people will be reduced to a great extent as the cases are reduced," the land minister said.
The land minister also emphasized that cultivable land should be identified and maximum efforts should be made to sustainably use and protect such land.
The Land Secretary mentioned that the recruitment rules of the Land Record and Survey Department have been established, and now measures need to be taken to recruit manpower quickly to expedite the work. Additionally, he stated that the 31-point directives given by the Prime Minister during her visit at the Ministry have been highlighted at the very beginning.
During the meeting, it was informed that among the successes of the Land Record and Survey Department is the creation of a database of all maps, a database of all RS survey ledgers, and the development of online land survey software (Khatian management).
Furthermore, it was disclosed at the meeting that the Bangladesh Digital Survey is underway in Chattogram, Narayanganj, Rajshahi City Corporation, Manikganj Municipality, and Dhamrai and Kushtia Sadar Upazilas through the EDLMS project.
The Bangladesh Digital Survey will also commence in 32 upazilas of Patuakhali, Barguna, Pabna, Sirajganj, and Gopalganj districts after the review of another project is completed.
The 'Bangladesh Digital Survey' will be conducted across Bangladesh through two projects in phases.
