Prime Minister to join ‘Smart Bangladesh Construction Business Conference’

The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) is set to organize the ‘Smart Bangladesh Construction Business Conference’ to discuss the private sector’s contribution to building a smarter Bangladesh. 

The conference, scheduled to take place on July 15 at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC), will be graced by the presence of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as the chief guest.

In a preparatory exchange meeting held on Sunday, heads of all chambers and associations affiliated with the FBCCI gathered to discuss the upcoming conference. FBCCI President, Md. Jashim Uddin, highlighted the pivotal role played by the private sector in the country’s economic progress, stating that 82 percent of the country’s business emanates from this sector. The conference aims to explore the private sector’s potential in building a smarter Bangladesh and will seek the Prime Minister’s insights on the matter.

Jashim Uddin acknowledged the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing Ukraine-Russia conflict, which have impacted global economies, including Bangladesh. He emphasized the collaborative efforts of the government and the private sector in navigating these difficult times.

Regarding the Bangladesh Business Summit, an event aimed at showcasing the nation's trade and investment capabilities to the world, the FBCCI President announced the publication of a book documenting the summit’s achievements. This book will be presented to the Prime Minister during the business conference, and it will contain expert opinions and recommendations discussed at the summit, which will be conveyed to relevant government ministries.

The speakers at the meeting expressed their intention to shed light on the private sector’s significance in advancing the country’s economy. Additionally, they highlighted the challenges faced by businessmen, which they intend to present before the Prime Minister at the conference.

The event was attended by prominent figures including FBCCI Senior Vice President Mustafa Azad Chowdhury Babu, Former Senior Vice President Mohammad Ali, Manowara Hakeem Ali, Present Vice President MA Momen, Aminul Haque Shamim, Amin Helali, Habib Ullah Don, MA Razzaq Khan, President of the Foreign Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry Nasser Ejaz Vijay, President of Dhaka Chamber Samir Sattar, President of Bangladesh Shop Owners Association Helal Uddin, and heads of affiliated chambers and associations of FBCCI.

The 'Smart Bangladesh Construction Business Conference' anticipates fruitful discussions on enhancing private sector participation in building a technologically advanced and prosperous Bangladesh.
