Prime Minister to inaugurate BSCIC head office today

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate a total of four projects including 14-storey Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) head office and Madaripur BSCIC industrial city (expansion) project implemented in Tejgaon industrial area of the capital today.

She would also lay the foundation stone of Ghorasal Polash Urea Fertilizer Project.

She will join the inaugural ceremony organized at Bangabandhu International Conference Center virtually from her official residence Ganabhaban.

A 14-storey BSCIC head office has been set up in Tejgaon area at a cost of Tk 84 crore with a view to expanding BSCIC activities and creating a better working environment.

The BSCIC head office has a space of 126,900 square feet. The building is eco-friendly (with solar system, rainwater harvesting system etc). The 2 basements will have 64 car parking facilities, 4 passenger lifts and 4 conference or meeting rooms for conducting various meetings or seminars with multimedia facilities.

In view of the growing demand of industrialists, an initiative was taken in 2014 to set up another industrial city (Madaripur BSCIC Industrial City Expansion) project in Madaripur district.

The project aims to meet the demand for industrial plots by setting up eco-friendly industrial cities, establishing small and medium scale industrial units in 158 plots with suitable infrastructure for new entrepreneurs such as land development, roads, water supply, electricity, sewerage etc and contribute to national economic growth by alleviating poverty through job creation.

The project has been implemented on 20.055 acres of land at a cost of Tk 53 crore 99 lakh 73 thousand. 

The project is expected to create employment opportunities for a total 7,000 men and women. 

The potential industrial sectors in the project are food and food products, textiles and textile products, automobile servicing, electrical and electrical goods, bicycle and motorcycle spare parts manufacturing, wooden furniture, steel furniture, cattle feed production, etc
