Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested the prime accused in connection with killing a trader in the city. He was identified as Charles Rupom Sarkar.
Talking to this correspondent, Deputy Commissioner ( DB) Moshiur Rahman confirmed it.
The key suspect Rupom was a friend of the victim Helal Uddin. He was arrested from the city’s Gabtoli on Sunday night.
DC Moshiur told that Rupom was hiding in Bogura after the murder. But to dodge police, he was planning to hide in a remote area of Barishal.
Earlier on June 18, police arrested Rupom’s wife Moni Sarkar and mother-in-law Rashida Akhter in connection with the murder. They also gave confessional statements to the court.
As per their confessional statement, Rupom had strangled his close friend to grab his money. He in association with his wife dismembered the body into three pieces. Then stashed them into sacks . Later left them in three different areas of the capital .
Helal was running a small shop in Muktijoddha Market at Uttara. He lived in Dakshinkhan. They were very closed with each other as Rupom also ran a similar business.
