The prices of all kinds of vegetables went fairly stable in the city kitchen markets on Friday.
Visiting markets on the weekly holiday this correspondent found that the prices of Potatoes has been relatively low while Tomatoes sold at Tk 60 per kg, Carrots at Tk 40, Papaya is being sold at Tk 30-40.
Lemon sold at Tk 90 per dozen, Dhundal Tk 70 like last week, Bean are sold at Tk 60-70 basing on varieties, Cabbage & Cauliflower per piece at Tk 40 like last week, Radish prices increased at Tk 40 compared to last week and the price of Green Chillies were sold at Tk 80 per kg as earlier.
Local variety of garlic is being sold at TK 180 while Indian garlic is at Tk 240 as last week.
Meanwhile, almost all types of greens are low in price. A bundle of Red amaranth at Tk 10, Spinach at Tk 8-10 , Green amaranth at Tk 15-20, Radish leaves at Tk 8, Bottle gourd leaf at Tk 40.
Manik mia, who came to Anandabazar in City said, “the price of vegetables has decreased comparatively. But the prices need to be reduced even less. If the authorities had done proper monitoring, the price would have been reduced further.”
Visiting other markets it was observed that Desi lentils at TK 140 whereas Indian lentils at TK 110 as last week, Mugdal at tk 170 which is unchanged from last week. Onion grown locally is being sold in the retail market at tk 80-90 but Ginger price has increased by Tk 20 per kg compared to last week.
Rice is available between 55 and 75 tk per kg depending on quality. Prices of fish went almost unchanged comparing to last week. It was found that Pangas is sold at TK 180 -230, Telapia is at TK 230, Ruhi is at TK 300 -500 per kg depending on size, Grashcarp at TK 200-220, China Puti at TK 200-220, Nala fish at Tk 200-230, Mrigel fish at Tk 250, Cuttle fish at Tk 350-500, Moha shoil at Tk 300-500 and Horn fish at tk 300-400 per kg.
Broiler chicken prices have remained the same as last week though Pakistani Chicken prices have increased by tk 20 per kg compared to last week.
