Prices of broiler chickens, potatoes and eggs have gone up during the week. On the other hand, the prices of other products remain unchanged.
Visits to the capital’s different kitchen markets including Rampura, Khilgaon, Shantinagar reflected the situation on Friday.
In these kitchen markets, Sonali (Cock) chicken was being sold at Tk 210 to Tk 220 per kilogram (kg). Last week, broiler chickens were sold at Tk 130, but it was selling at Tk 160, an increase of Tk 30. Besides, layer chicken was being sold at Tk 250 per kg.
Rampura kitchen market chicken trader Ibrahim said, “The normal supply of chicken in the market is being interrupted by rain. As a result, chicken prices have gone up within a week”.
A dozen of red eggs were being sold at Tk 105 to Tk 110. A dozen of duck eggs were being sold at Tk 135 to Tk 140, an increase of Tk 10. Besides, a dozen of golden Sonali chicken eggs were selling at Tk 150.
On the other hand, prices of beef and mutton, spices and other commodities remained unchanged in these markets. Mutton was being sold at Tk 700 to Tk 750 per kg, beef at Tk 600 per kg.
In the vegetable market, brinjal was being sold at Tk 80 per kg, bitter gourd at Tk 60, Tomato at Tk 60, string bean at Tk 80, wax gourd at Tk 40 to 50, Sweet Pumpkin at Tk 40, snake gourd at Tk 30, parwal at Tk 40 to 50, okra at Tk 40 to 50, papaya Tk 40, spiny gourd Tk 60, cucumber Tk 40, green chili Tk 40. In addition, each piece of gourd is being sold at Tk 50 to Tk 60, and lemon (four pieces) at Tk 10 to Tk 15.
Potato was selling at Tk 25 per kg. Besides, per kg onion was being sold at Tk 50 to Tk 55. In these markets per kg of dried chilies was sold at Tk 280, garlic at Tk 80 to 130 and ginger at Tk 100 with an increase of Tk 20. Turmeric was being sold at Tk 220 from Tk 180.
In these markets, BR-28 rice is selling at Tk 48 to 50 per kg, Miniket at Tk 60 to Tk 62, Nazirshail at Tk 62 to Tk 65, coarse rice at Tk 45 to Tk 48. Edible oil was selling at Tk 151 to Tk 155 per liter.
