Price fall in large caps drives stocks down

Country's both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) – on Sunday plunged due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities. DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went down by 11.44 points or 0.18 percent to 6,195.37. Two other indices also ended lower with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, plunged 1.70 points to finish at 2,193.60 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 3.24 points to close at 1,355.59. Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, remained low and amounted to Taka 1784.26 million which was Taka 3457.15 million at the previous session of the week.

Out of 332 issues traded, 150 declined, 20 advanced and 162 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

ICICL was the day's top gainer, posting 9.96 percent gain while ANWARGALV was the worst loser, losing 4.49 per cent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended sharply lower with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI -losing 34.33 points to settle at 18,293.68 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX shedding 20.70 points to close at 10,961.51.

Of the issues traded, 140 declined, 13 advanced and 44 issues remained unchanged on the CSE.
