Stocks on Tuesday closed with downward trend due mainly to price fall in large-cap securities with lower transactions.
The falling major sectors were ceramics, insurance, IT and fuel and power. A total of 267 securities of the large-cap group moved down due to lower activities, reports BSS.
The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 62.88 points down at 5,260.86. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 15.80 points down at 1,215.41 and with 20.21 points down at 1,872.74.
The daily trade fell to 7.64 crore shares from Sunday’s 8.42 crore shares and the day’s trade value at DSE decreased to Taka 298.63 crore from Taka 351.84 crore of the previous session.
At DSE, out of the day’s 342 securities, prices of 34 securities closed higher against 267 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were National Life Insurance, ICB3RDNRB, BANGAS, MI Cement and Jamuna Bank.
The major losing companies were Monno Ceramics, United Insurance, GENEXIL, Eastern Lubricant and KTL. Fortune Shoes topped the turnover list followed by Monno Ceramics, BSCCL, UPGDCL and BSC. The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with downward trend with its major CASPI 148.63 points down at 16,121.20.
At CSE, 241 issues were traded. Of those, 36 closed higher and 187 closed lower when 44.25 lakh
shares worth Taka 12.71 crore changed hands.
