Pressure mounts on DNCC Covid hospital

124 admitted, 75 in ICU

The number of corona patients are increasing at the DNCC Covid-19 dedicated hospital in Mohakhali of the capital. A total of 124 coronavirus infected patients have been admitted to this hospital in three days. Of these, 75 are undergoing treatment in the ICU.

Brig Gen AKM Nasir Uddin, director of the hospital, provided the information at an emergency press conference in front of the DNCC Covid-19 dedicated hospital at noon on Wednesday.

He said, “Corona patients from all over the country, including the capital, are coming to this hospital for medical treatment. We haven't sent anyone back yet. However, if the present situation continues, we will have to face great difficulties.”

He further said that, there is still shortage of manpower. “We are facing problems in providing medical services due to this. We want to set up 1,000 beds in the current month. But it will not be possible to run the hospital without adequate number of manpower.”

The director said that four patients had died in 24 hours from 8am on Tuesday (April 20) to 8am on Wednesday (April 21). A total of 13 people have died since the inauguration of the hospital. Most of the people dying are over 60 years. Besides, 300 corona patients have been treated in this hospital so far.

It is to be mentioned here that the admission of patients in the country's largest corona dedicated hospital started from 8am on Monday.
