President M Abdul Hamid left Dhaka on Thursday afternoon on a seven-day visit to attend the fifth summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) at Tajik capital Dushanbe and another event in Uzbekistan, reports BSS. A VVIP flight (BG-1516) of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the President and his entourage members took off Hazrat Shahjalal (R) International Airport (HISA) at about 4:15 pm.
President’s wife Rashida Khanam and Foreign Minister Dr AK Abul Momen, MP and Rejwan Ahammad Taufiq, MP, are accompanying the head of the state during the official visit. Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque, Turkish envoy to Bangladesh, chiefs of the three services, inspector general of police (IGP) and high civil as well as military officials were present at the airport to see the President off. President Abdul Hamid will return home on June 19.
