Present govt believes in communal harmony

Planning Minister MA Mannan has said, the government led by Awami League believes in the ideals of secularism. He said, people of all religions get equal importance and treatment from them and added people irrespective of all religions will live with the same status in the country. 

Planning Minister further mentioned, there is a party which does not believe in secularism. They were secretly engaged to thwart development of the country. He called upon the people to remain alert from the vested interest group. Planning Minister was speaking as the chief guest at the function of inauguration of the new building of Dirai Probashi High School in Sunamganj on Saturday noon.

Planning Minister said, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has brought an abrupt change in the country during last 11-year.  Development was visible elsewhere in the country. There was development of roads, electricity, education and health care facilities. Elderly people were getting the elderly allowances, children are getting sub-stipends, new books in schools, salary of teachers and officials have been increased three-fold, villages have been connected with electricity . 

The earlier governments in power failed to make any visible development of the country. He called upon people to be united by forgetting their differences and urged them to think every man equal.  Addressing the immigrants, Planning Minister said, in future no one will need to go London for job but they should go to London for research and education only. 

Presided over by Monjur Alam Chowdhury, Chairman of Dirai Upazila Parishad, the function was addressed, among others, by Abdul Aziz Sarder,former Mayor of London Tower Hamlet , Faruk Ahmed, Upazila Parishad Chairman of South Sunamganj and Mosharraf Mia, Mayor of Dirai Municipality.
