Preparatory meeting held in Rupganj ahead of Durga Puja

Rupganj Correspondent: A preparatory and special law and order meeting was held in Rupganj Upazila, Narayanganj, ahead of the upcoming Sharadiya Durga Puja 2025 celebrations. The main objective of the meeting was to review overall security, finalise necessary preparations, and devise strategies to ensure a peaceful and smooth celebration.

The meeting took place on Thursday morning at the Upazila Parishad auditorium, chaired by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Saiful Islam Joy. Present were Mehedi, Assistant Superintendent of Police (Narayanganj), Captain Md. Abrar Hossain and Captain Mohammad Asif from the army, Officer-in-Charge of Rupganj Police Station Tariqul Islam, Agriculture Officer Afroza Sultana, Disaster and Relief Officer Aimin Sultana, local union chairmen, journalists, and representatives from temple committees.

All Puja mandaps in Rupganj will be secured with adequate deployment of police, Ansar, and volunteers. Separate entry and exit points will be arranged, along with CCTV surveillance and fire safety measures. Monitoring of unfamiliar or suspicious individuals will be increased, and traffic movement near mandaps will be controlled, with alternative routes and designated parking near larger mandaps.

The power authority has been requested to ensure uninterrupted electricity during Puja days. First aid and emergency health services will be available near each mandap, and local health centres will remain on standby. Authorities will also monitor and act against any rumours or incitement on social media.
