Preparatory meeting held ahead of Durga Puja in Ishwardi

A preparatory meeting was held on Thursday in the Upazila Parishad conference room in Ishwardi to ensure a smooth and peaceful celebration of the upcoming Durga Puja. The meeting was organised by the Ishwardi Upazila Administration and chaired by Acting Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Assistant Commissioner (Land), Md. Asaduzzaman Sarkar.

Present at the meeting were heads of various government departments, police officials, union council secretaries, leaders of the Puja Celebration Council and temple committees, representatives of the Chamber of Commerce, political figures, journalists, and cultural and social activists.

Speakers included Additional Superintendent of Police (Ishwardi Circle) Pronob Kumar, Officer-in-Charge Abdun Noor, Traffic Police Inspector Abdullah Al Mabud, Ishwardi Press Club President Azizur Rahman Shahin, and General Secretary SM Fazlur Rahman, among others.

Puja Council President Sunil Kumar Chakraborty noted that Ishwardi has long been a symbol of communal harmony, with Durga Puja celebrated peacefully for decades.

OC Abdun Noor assured that strict security measures will be in place, including uniformed and plainclothes officers, traffic police, and intelligence personnel. Every Puja mandap will be monitored with CCTV.

The Acting UNO confirmed comprehensive administrative and law enforcement preparations to ensure a peaceful and joyous Durga Puja celebration across all 30 temples in the upazila.
