Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen said on Wednesday that they are preparing to welcome Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi next month at the beginning of the Mujib Year. He said the exact date of his arrival would be finalised soon as Indian Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla would be visiting Bangladesh in the first week of March as part of the preparations. Dr Momen was talking to reporters after attending the 2nd Brainstorming Session on OIC Reform in Dhaka.

Bangladesh is set to celebrate Mujib Year from March 17 to march 17, 2021 marking the birth centenary of father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The government earlier announced that Modi would be the guest on the opening day ceremony. The foreign minister said apart from attending the Mujib Year events, Modi would sit with his Bangladesh counterpart Sheikh Hasina for a bilateral meeting. “The foreign ministry is working on that,” he said.
