Premiere of ‘Amar Babar Naam’ about Bangabandhu held

On the occasion of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the premiere of the short film 'Amar Babar Naam’ produced by Bangladesh Television was held on Saturday, 4 Ashwin 1427 Bengali year. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Chief Secretary was present as the chief guest. 

Ahmed Kaikaus, Secretary of the Ministry of Information Kamrun Nahar was present as the special guest. BTV Director SM Harun-ur-Rashid presided over the ceremony. 

At the beginning of the premiere, that is, at four o’clock in the afternoon, the main event started with the performance of Mujib Barsho music. Nasir Mahmood, General Manager, BTV, presented the welcome speech under the hosting of Sama Mehjabin Rinti. 

The chief guest said Dr Ahmed Kaikaus said, “Bangladesh Television is the birthplace of Bangladeshi culture. Bangladesh Television is still working silently. 

It needs to be more vocal. And it feels nice that I was able to come amongst stars because of ‘Amar Babar Naam’. Of course, thank you for inviting me to enjoy such a film.”

SM Harun Rashid said, “I am fortunate to have seen Bangabandhu directly and listened to him directly. Bangabandhu showed Bengalis a dream, taught Bengalis to be brave. 

It is a great thing that Bangabandhu built the Bengali nation free. He was formed as a fighter for the armed liberation war. And at the end of the war he led that independent country forward and the conspirators destroyed him before taking that advance to a desired goal…”

The story, screenplay and dialogues of the short film are by Harun Rashid. It was directed by Fazle Azim Jewel. Abul Hayat, Dilara Zaman, Samu Chowdhury, Nairuj Sifat, Emon, Nirab, Joyraj, Lubna Nazneen and many others have acted in different roles. 

Regarding acting in it, Dilara Zaman said, “Acting in ‘Amar Babar Naam’ is a great achievement of my acting life. Appearing in the premiere show of this film awakened the desire to live for many more years from the emotions of the people. It can also be called the best achievement of acting life.”
