Pre-primary yet to open doors

As coronavirus infection rate has declined across the country, decision has been made to resume physical classes in schools, colleges and universities from 22nd February and in primary schools from March 1. 

However, pre-primary classes will not resume at the moment.

State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Ministry Md Zakir Hossain told media on Friday that classes from class one to five will start on March 1 as Covid-19 infection rate has decreased. 

“However, physical classes at the pre-primary level will not resume for the time being,” he said. 

It may be noted that there is a level of education for children in government primary schools known as pre-primary. Which is known also known as play, nursery, kg etc. in English medium schools and kindergartens. 

Meanwhile, Mahbubur Rahman Tuhin, public relations officer of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, said on Friday morning that office order regarding physical classes in primary schools from March 1 will be issued soon.

Earlier on Thursday, Education Minister Dipu Moni said in a press conference that in-person classes at secondary, higher secondary and university level will start from February 22.

Educational institutions were closed on March 17, 2020 due to the coronavirus infection. After a year and a half of the ongoing pandemic, the educational institutions of all levels were opened on September 12 last year. 

However, due to the increase in infection, the educational institutions were closed again from January 21 this year.
