PRAN collects mung bean from farmers amid corona

PRAN, country’s leading business conglomerate, is continuing to provide support to its contract farmers amid corona outbreak so that they do not face any obstacle to sell their produce. 

As part of the initiative, country’s leading agro processor is collecting mung bean from its contractual farmers of different district directly maintaining necessary safety.    

This year, PRAN is collecting mung bean from Natore, Bhola, Patuakhali and Barguna for manufacturing PRAN fried mung dal, PRAN mung dal, dal mix and PRAN Haleem Mix. 

The company sets target to collect 5 thousands metric ton mung dal for this season. The collection has started from May and will continue till first week of July.  

Mahatab Uddin, Chief Operating Officer at PRAN Agro Business Ltd, said, “Our contractual farmers have cultivated mung bean at more than 4300 acres of land this year. 

We are collecting the mung bean between tk 60 to 70. Now PRAN has four thousands contractual farmers to produce mung bean.”

He also added, “February to March is the proper time to cultivate mung bean. PRAN always gives support to the farmers by providing training, high quality seed and pesticides during cultivation. 

As a result, farmers get benefit for our initiative and we get good quality products as a raw materials from them.  After collecting it, we process the mung bean at our Natore and Narsingdi’s Ghorashal factories.”

Kamruzzaman Kamal, Marketing Director at PRAN-RFL Group, said, PRAN is an agriculture based organization. Amid corona pandemic, the government has given more emphasis on producing and marketing agro based product to save our economy. 

PRAN is working with the farmers at the crisis moment and collecting agro products including dal, rice and milk from the farmers.
