Prabir Mitra is a living legend of the film industry. He has been suffering from knee pain for more than a decade. He is staying at the house of his son Nipun in Kalabagan of the capital. Nipun said that for the last two years his father has been hearing very little. Even using hearing aid is not working.
This talented actor of the film is going to set foot on his 79th year. His son Nipun said that there is no arrangement around his father’s birthday. Prabir Mitra’s younger brother Subir Kumar Mitra said that he would come to see him that day. However, according to Nipun’s comment, no one in the film family keeps track of him and does not even go to see him these days.
In 1982, he won the National Film Award for his performance in Mohiuddin’s ‘Boro Bhalo Lok Chilo’. Since then, he has acted in many more films. But received no other state honors. This dedicated actor did not get Ekushey Padak either.
However, he has received ‘Producers Association Award’, ‘Zahir Raihan Film Award’, ‘Bangabandhu Cultural Alliance Award’, ‘Mother Teresa Memorial Medal-2017’, ‘Jago Bangla Award’, ‘Amra Kuri Sammanona’, ‘Mahanagari Award’ and many more.
However, Prabir Mitra said, “The love of the audience has always been an invaluable achievement for me. The love of the audience has brought me to this position today. I want to live in the midst of this love.”
The latest Prabirmitra has acted in the film ‘Briddhashram’ directed by SD Rubel. He has not acted in any other film since then.
Regarding his interest in acting he said, “I can only act, I can’t do anything else. I want to do acting for the rest of my life. But who will cast me in this situation? But yes, if there is a way to do it I will do it.”
