Sale of charger and solar fans on the rise

People in Ulipur of Kurigram districts are facing severe hardship due to frequent load shedding. In addition, the ongoing heatwave for several days added another suffering to their life. People of different ages, including children and the elderly, are in a crisis. 

As a result, various types of lights including chargers and solar fans have been sold in different haat markets of Ulipur city and upazila. There are also allegations that some unscrupulous traders are selling fans at exorbitant prices on the pretext of increasing the price due to demand.

It is known that after visiting a few markets and talking to traders and buyers, there is a huge demand for chargers and solar fans due to the scorching heat and frequent load shedding, but the company failed to supply them as per the demand. And the buyers said that even if they need it, they have to struggle to buy it because the price is out of reach.

Palash Miar (33) of Daldalia Karpura area of the upazila said that he has a one-and-a-half-year-old son. The boy cannot endure the heat. After hours of load shedding and intense heat, he became very sick. But he returned empty-handed as the price was not affordable.

Afroza Begum of South Sadulya said that load shedding supposed to continue for an hour. But we are having electricity for 5 hours to 6 hours in a day, children cannot study in unbearable heat due to lack of rain. I went to buy charger light and fan but there price goes beyond our capacity.

Labu Mia, an employee of Azad Electronics store in Paur city, said that earlier there was not much demand for charger fans. Now it has increased.

Baijid Islam, owner of Mafid Media Center in Choumhani Bazar, said that since last one week there is a lot of demand for chargers and solar fans. Company salesmen (SR) are not giving the goods even after asking them repeatedly. It is reported that there is a fan crisis.

A salesperson of a reputed company said on condition of anonymity, suddenly there is a huge demand for charger fans in Kurigram. In this opportunity, many unscrupulous businessmen are selling fans priced at Tk 3600 to Tk 3800 by setting the level above the fixed price of Tk 2450 to Tk 2795. It is not possible to supply fans as per demand. He said that this crisis will continue for the next two months.

Kurigram Rajarhat Meteorological Observatory in-charge Sabur Mia said, the scorching heat will continue until it rains.

Also the day and night temperatures will remain unchanged. Today the maximum temperature in Kurigram was 37.2 degrees Celsius.
