With wireless sets in hands and wearing uniforms of the elite force RAB, they identified themselves as the members of law enforcement agencies and committed murder and robbery throughout the capital city Dhaka unabated.
At last, those six miscreants have been caught in the dragnet of the detective police. The miscreants have been identified as -Farhad Hossain(35), Jalal Uddin Sumon(35), Kazi Akbar Ali(45), Saharul Islam Sagor(21), Aminul Islam Sobuj(50) and Monir(25).
RAB seized two uniforms inscribed 'RAB' on those, one hand-cuff, one wireless set, one pistol, bullet and a toy-pistol. Mashiur Rahman, Deputy-Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police, Gulshan branch, informed the dead body of missing Sultan Hossain(35), a resident of Tejgaon and Official of a Buying House was recovered from a bush at Singair of Manikganj on July-16. His younger brother Abul Hossain had filed a murder case with the local police station on July -18 in this connection.
In addition to police, detective police also start to investigate into the case. Acting on a tip-off, Farhad Hossain was arrested from Sarkervillage under Sakhipur of Shariatpur on August-13. After interrogation, police came to learn about the presence of other cohorts of Farhad and arrested Jalal Uddin Sumon with an ambulance used for the act of mugging from in front of Dhaka Medical College Hospital of Saturday, informed Mashiur Rahaman, DC of DMP, detective branch.
Based on his confession, police arrested Akbar Ali, Saharul Islam and Aminul Islam from Purana Paltan area of Paltan Police station.
Mashiur Rahman informed the arrested accused were an organised gang of robbers (dacoits) in the guise of identifying themselves as the members of law enforcement agency members. They mainly targetted the Hoondi traders, Money Exchangers and money transactors at various banks in Motijheel and other areas of the country. By following those targets, they stopped them at a safe location and identifying as RAB, they forced them( the targets) to ride on their vehicle, fasten their hands and legs, snatched away cash money and other valuables from them by bearing them. If anyone raised an alarm, they just kill those by fastening a napkin around their throat.
Regarding hijacking Sultan and killing him, Mashiur Rahman said quoting narration of the arrested accused that Sagar and Sobuj started to follow Sultan when he came out of a Money Exchange Office with a bag in Motijheel on July-14. Sultan rode on a BRTC bus from Paltan crossing when both Sagar and Sobuj also rode and sat beside the seats of same bus and continued to follow him. They informed Akbar on the mobile phone that the bus was proceeding towards the Farm Gate.
According to the plan, Akbar, Sumon(driver), Farhad and Monir started to follow the bus in a hired ambulance. Deporting from the BRTC bus at Farmgate, Sultan took a Mirpur bound bus 'Shikhor Paribahan). Sagar and Sobuj also rode on the same bus and sat on the seats beside him. At a stage of their journey, Sagaor and Sobuj informed Akbar that Sultan was carrying a huge amount of dollar and that they should snatch that. Sultan deported from the bus near Purabi Cinema Hall of Pallabi and was crossing the road while Sagor and Sobuj also deported at the same spot and showed Sultan to Monir and Akbar.
Akbar, Monir and Farhad, idenfiying them as RAB, caught Sultan by holding his shirt collar from behind and forced him to ride on the microbus. Akbar was holding a wireless set, Monir was wearing a RAB uniform, Farhad was wearing a white coloured RAB uniform and holding a hand-cuff. After riding on the moving ambulance, Sultan could understand, they were not members of RAB and he started crying aloud. Akbar searched the bag of Sultan and getting no dollars inside, he asked him where the dollars are but Sultan again raise an alarm with loud crying when they killed him by wrapping a napkin around his throat.
All the gang members traversing through Gabtoli-Hemayetpur-Savar, deported at Nabinagar bus stand and driver Sumon alone drove the vehicle with the dead body towards Singair Upazila Health Complex and dumped the dead body inside a bush beside the road.
