Popular vice-chairman candidate Jahangir Alam is now running his re-election campaign in full swing ahead of the May 29 polls to Ukhia Upazila Parishad in the district.
Jahangir, who also served as acting chairman in Ukhia Upazila Parishad, has already proved himself as a pro-people candidate through his various welfare works.
He is the nephew of Shaheed ATM Zafor Alam (CSP), former cabinet secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam and former Haldiyapalong Union Parishad Chairman Principal Md Shah Alam.
Jahangir Alam, an inhabitant of Haldiyapalong Union, has become popular among people in the upazila as a benevolent man. He stood by people of all parties in the last five years.
When contacted, Jahangir Alam said he becomes a vice-chairman candidate again to work for the development of Ukhia upazila.
Local people claimed that he is a candidate of clean image and there are no allegations against him.
Local people, including elderly ones and youths, have welcomed his re-election campaign. Members of Chhatra League, Jubo League, Swechchasebak League, Mahila League, Sramik League and Awami League are taking part in his election campaign.
