Police working to protect human rights: Jamalpur OC

In the quarterly meeting of Human Rights Defender Network (HRD) in Jamalpur, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jamalpur Sadar Police Station Mohabbat Kabir said that the police work 24 hours a day to protect people's lives and human rights. 

Even when everyone is asleep, the police are awake.   The traffic controls the vehicles regardless of storm and flood.  People come to the police with problems. No one comes to police with any good news.  Police come ahead to protect their human rights but no one looks into this matter. He urged the human rights activists to think about the issue. 

 Police and human rights activists complement each other. 

Exchange of information and development of mutual relations will contribute to the development of human rights situation in Jamalpur. Jahangir Salim, convener of Human Rights Defender Network, Jamalpur District Committee, presided over the meeting organized by the Development Association and Human Rights Culture Foundation (MSF) at US-DTRC in Jamalpur on Monday.   Murshed Iqbal, Program Director of the Development Association delivered the address of welcome while Arju Ahmed, Member Secretary of the Network, moderated the meeting.

District Probation Officer Abduch Salam, Human Rights Culture Foundation Coordinator Tipu Sultan, Document Officer Tania Sultana, Jamalpur Municipality Councilor Nasreen Sultana, HRD Ashraful Islam, Manowara Parveen, Farhad Hossain and others spoke in the meeting.

In the meeting, reports on various activities and achievements in protecting human rights in Jamalpur in the last three months were presented. District Probation Officer Abduch Salam said that the activities of HRD network in Jamalpur deserve praise. Members give quick response to any incident. As a result, human rights violations in Jamalpur are decreasing day by day.

 MSF coordinator Tipu Sultan while describing the aim of the project said that the human rights defenders are self-motivated to create mass awareness against all forms of violence and build a peaceful society free from human rights violations.  MSF is very happy with the activities in Jamalpur.

A total of 42 representatives, including members of the network participated in the meeting.

It is learnt that Jamalpur HRD Network has taken necessary steps to develop human rights culture, identify human rights incidents, regularly monitor human rights violations, stand by the victims of human rights violations, provide psychological, medical, legal support to, and play a strong role in obtaining justice, human bonds, memorandums.
