Dhaka Metropolitan Police nabbed four members of an organized robber group in connection of coming robbery on different city streets by a pickup van for long times.
The arrested men were identified as Rony, 28, Sohel, 30, Akter alias Sohrab, 32 and Abir Hossain alias Rassel.
Hayatul Islam Khan, deputy commissioner of Motijheel Division Police, disclosed these while addressing at a press briefing on Tuesday in the DMP Media Center in the capital Dhaka.
According to the places, the robbery incidents took place from May 12 to 14. During this period, the gang mugged at least four people including a female police constable on Dhaka streets. They also robbed a pickup van five to six days ago which they used for the robbery, the DC added. A police team arrested the four during their drive following a case filed by female constable NargisAkter.
The team also seized the pick-up van, two knives and four mobile phone sets from their possession.
The gang members snatched away a gold chain, cash money and mobile phone from NargisAkter, constable of Special Branch, at gunpoint on May 12. Later, she lodged the case with Paltan Police Station.
