Police unearths mystery of driver murder, 2 arrested

Police unearthed the mystery of the murder of a van driver in Gazipur. Police said that the driver was hacked to death to snatch 122 packets of yarn. 

Police revealed the mystery after arrest of two snatchers from two separate places. Deputy Police Commissioner of GMP Md. Zakir Hasan said these at a press briefing on Saturday. 

The arrestees are Nazmul Hossain (22) of Sadar Thana in Rangpur and Gokul Chandra Sarkar (30) of Kaliakoir Upazila in Gazipur. Police also obtained the murder weapon from them.

 He said that police on Thursday recovered a severed body from the National Park gate adjacent to Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway. Later the wife of the deceased identified the body as cavard Van driver Munnaf Sarker (50).  He was delivering 122 packets of yarn from Nannu Spinning Mill of Rupganj to Chandra. 

On the halfway, arrestees hopped in the van from Bhogra area and then hacked the driver’s neck. Then they disposed of the body in front of the National Park and flew with the van. Police then recovered the van from Dhamrai Area on Thursday night. After arresting Gokul, police then nabbed Nazmul Hossain on behalf of obtained information. 

Additional Deputy Police Commissioner Thoai Pru Marma, Sadar Police Station OC Rafiqul Islam and Inspector jahangir Alam were present at the press briefing.
