A pass from the police will be necessary for emergency movement during the strict countrywide lockdown which is set to be enforced from April 14.
Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of police, Media and Public Relations, Mir Sohel Rana confirmed it to the Bangladesh Post on Monday.
At 11am on Tuesday, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Benazir Ahmed will officially launch the “Movement Pass App”, using which people can print the pass, the AIG added.
AIG Sohel Rana said, “Anyone can apply on the app. But the pass will be issued considering the extent emergency. How to enter the app will be presented to the public during the launch programme.”
The initiative will be supervised by the ICT department of police.
A website named “movementpass.police.gov.bd” will be launched through which people would be able to register under several categories to avail the pass — funeral, medicine, medication, carrying agriculture goods, job, etc.
Service holders will have to provide the name of their residential area, where they will travel to and from where.
One pass will have a time limit of about 10 hours and will cover a single trip, meaning two passes will be needed for a round trip.
To register on the website and to get a one-time password (OTP), a valid national ID, a driving licence, passport or student ID card will be required.
After completing registration, a person would be provided with a pass with a QR code through which the police personnel can verify the pass at different check points.
