Akhteruzzaman(48), a Sub-inspector Police of Raninagar Police Station was killed when he was knocked by a running train at Raninagar area under Naogaon district on Tuesday noon.
According to sources, SI Akhteruzzaman of village Gopalpur under Shahjadpur upazila under Sirajganj district was working at Raninagar police station. Around 12-15 pm, SI Akhteruzzaman was walking along the railway track by and talking over the mobile phone. At that time Khulna bound Rupsha Express train was crossing through the track which SI Akhteruzzaman could not perceive. The speedy train knocked him beside the railway track injuring him fatally. He was at first admitted to Naogaon Sadar Hospital from there he was shifted to Shahid Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment in the afternoon.
Abdul Gani, Officer-in-charge of Raniangar Police Station has confirmed the death of SI Akhteruzzaman in a train accident.
