51 mobile phones were recovered in an operation by DB police in Chattogram and handed over to their owners.
This was announced at a press conference at the city's district police lines office on Tuesday morning.
At the time, District Superintendent of Police Md. Saiful Islam Santu handed over these mobile phones to their real owners.
He said that 51 Android mobile phones have been recovered from various districts of the country including Chittagong after reviewing the lost mobile GDs of 17 police stations in Chittagong district. The real owners are very happy to get their lost mobile phones back.
District Additional Superintendent of Police (DB and Industrial Area) Md. Rasel said that these mobile phones have been recovered from different areas of the country. Many people have been cheated by buying mobile phones after being lured by advertisements on various platforms including Facebook, Telegram, WhatsApp. Sometimes the IMEI number of the mobile phone is fake.
He said, when buying an old mobile phone, the seller's national identity card, phone box, receipt and IMEI number should be verified. In addition, if someone loses a mobile phone, I request you to file a GD at the police station immediately. Because if these phones are used for crime, the responsibility will fall on the owner. However, instructions of the District Police Super, activities related to the recovery of weapons, drug recovery and arrest of accused in important cases, as well as the recovery of lost or stolen mobile phones, will continue.
According to the police, these mobile phones were recovered after reviewing the general diaries (GD) filed in various police stations. Among the recovered mobile phones, there are 13 from Raozan police station, 7 from Lohagara, 9 from Rangunia, 6 from Anwara, 7 from South Rangunia, 7 from Jorarganj and 2 from Chandanaish police station.
