‘Police first took part in Liberation War’

Kishoreganj Superintendent of Police (SP) Mashrukur Rahman Khaled said, at the call of Bangabandhu, police were the first to take part in the Liberation War. Police members jumped on the enemies being inspired by patriotism. 

He added, police have given their lives in the past and are giving their lives in the present as well for the people of this country. Police members are always ready to give their lives for the Nation.

He made the remarks while distributing financial cheques among the families of martyred police freedom fighters and police personnel killed in the line of duty at the conference room of the Police Super Office on Thursday afternoon.

The SP said at the time, Bangladesh Police officially commemorates the police personnel who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty on March 1 every year by celebrating 'Police Memorial Day'. Kishoreganj police is and will be by the side of their family members in any need.

He added that during the Liberation War the first resistance was formed by the Bengali policemen from Rajarbag. When the police members sent the message of the attack on Dhaka to the police stations across the country, the resistance war spread all over the country.

Kishoreganj Zila Parishad Chairman Md Zillur Rahman was present as the chief guest at the function organized by district police and in collaboration with the Zila Parishad while, Kishoreganj District Awami League General Secretary Advocate MA Afzal was present as the special guest. 

Chief Executive Officer of the Zila Parishad Mohammad Abdullah, Additional Police Super Arniban Chowdhury, General Secretary of the District Krishak League Anwar Hossain Bachchu, journalist Saifuddin Ahmed Lenin, Sajan Ahmed Papon and others were present at the time. The check distribution ceremony was conducted by Additional Police Super Mizanur Rahman.

After the discussion, the guests handed over a cheque of Tk 5,000 to each of the 37 families of the martyred police freedom fighters and police personnel killed in the line of duty in collaboration with the zila parishad.
