Police on Tuesday arrested Wahiduzzaman, a director of Crest Securities Ltd, who went into hiding after winding down his brokerage house amid the coronavirus outbreak.
The arrested was made from the Lake City area of the capital’s Khilkhet area.
Wahiduzzaman was one of the fugitives in the case filed over embezzling stock market money by Crest Securities, said HM Azimul Haque, deputy commissioner (DB- Ramna Division) of DMP.
On June 23, Crest Securities, a corporate member of Dhaka Stock Exchange, closed its office and all branches. Since them its managing director and officials went into hiding. On July 7, police arrested Crest Securities’ MD Md Shahid Ullah, his wife Nipa Sultana and two others, in a case over embezzling the stock market investors’ money.
The brokerage house faces an allegation of misappropriating Tk 48 crore from its investors and creditors.
